Oversees all aspects of production for both trusses and/or wall panels.  Plans, schedules, supervises, and coordinates all activities related to the cutting and manufacturing of truss and wall panel components, and other specialty products as necessary.  Responsibilities to include, but not limited to: safety, shop efficiency, productivity objectives, quality control, shop work schedule, housekeeping and inventory, and other support functions as determined by Zeeland Truss & Components General Manager.  Recommends staffing adjustments, process and equipment modifications and upgrades. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Basic understanding of construction practices, including, but not limited to truss and wall panel components
  • Ability to set up and build any type of truss or wall panel, with or without the use of lasers or other computer enhanced equipment
  • Oversees all work activities and personnel of the assigned area
  • Safety training and safety enforcement for all component plant personnel
  • Establishes work schedule and develops cost effective plan to meet location goals
  • Supervises team members engaged in all aspects of the manufacturing process. Including operation of: forklifts, saws, roller presses, hydraulic presses, hand held pneumatic staplers and nail guns, manual, semi-automatic, and automatic stacking equipment, strapping and other misc. powered and hand tools, etc. 
  • Maintains and performs general troubleshooting of all equipment and machinery
  • Supervises and ensures adherence to company and department policies and procedures; performs personnel management duties including hiring, training, team member reviews, etc.
  • Monitors material inventory levels and makes recommendations for same
  • Ensures excellent customer relations and satisfactory services are provided through the timely, efficient, and quality completion of work orders to the customers
  • Compiles data, prepares and completes various reports as required by the ZTC general manager
  • Maintains various safety, attendance, and other records as required by the ZTC general manager
  • Performs other related duties as determined by the ZTC general manager

Education / Training / Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Five (5) years supervisory experience in building materials industry with an emphasis in component production and assembly or related field preferred
  • Ability to obtain a forklift truck license and understands the importance of safety.
