SUMMARY: The facilitator will be responsible for finding, supporting, and implementing improvement efforts in production. All of their time will be spent on the shop floor observing process and procedures and working hand in hand with production employees to identify opportunities/ problems and create solutions.

POSITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and maintain excellent communication and strong relationships with operators.
  • Find opportunities in production processes, focusing on areas that are overburden, uneven, and have waste.
  • Promote Safety, Quality, and Production with all associates.
  • Schedule team meetings to discuss problems and facilitate finding the root cause.
  • Suggest Kaizen ideas based on knowledge of production and observations.
  • Participate in and coordinate Kaizen events.
  • Support the Production System Team Lead by working as their eyes and ears on the production floor.
  • Implement the solutions agreed upon by the Operators, Production Systems Team Leader, and themselves.

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and production processes. Experience in truss manufacturing a plus
  • Flexible with work schedule – the ability to work different or additional hours with little notice
  • Focuses on Safety and Quality
  • Familiar with Lean Manufacturing methodology and practices.
  • Strong willingness to embrace and promote “Lean or Kaizen.”
  • Ability to actively participate in problem-solving activities
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate with associates on the shop floor
  • Ability to put ideas on paper when needed

Qualifications: 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years’ experience in Production or Manufacturing environment. Truss Manufacturing a plus
  • Some Lean or Kaizen experience preferred
  • Experience in a Supervisory role

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Bi-Lingual - Spanish and English is a plus
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively communicate information in one on one and small group situations with other employees of the organization
