Company Focus

A start-up whole house manufacturing operation for roof trusses and EZ Wall® products. This role is a key member of the executive team with responsibility for, and control of, diverse business operations; therefore, must be an experienced and efficient leader with excellent people skills, business acumen and exemplary work ethic.

Summary/Objective

The General Manager is an aggressive-minded leader who strives to improve the level of ‘operational excellence’ on a daily basis. The role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day operations and business activities for the facility. Working closely with the Senior Leadership of A-1 Roof Trusses, the AVP of Operations will lead and direct all functional areas of the business to sustain outstanding operational and financial performance metrics

 

Location         Bainbridge, Georgia

 

Reports to      Both the President and CEO and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of A-1 Roof Trusses

  • Direct manufacturing operations toward accomplishment of Company objectives as specified in annual operating budget and business plan.
  • Ensure effective manufacturing operations of programs in following areas:  quality control, waste control, safety, production incentives, inventory control, housekeeping and employee staffing and training.
  • Develop specific short-term and long-range plans and programs with supporting budget requests and production objectives.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain departmental plans, budgets, reports, capacity utilization (labor and equipment)
  • Ensure the safe operation of the site and the safety of all employees at the location.
  • Lead the organization in a manner consistent with corporate values, modeling integrity, inclusiveness, teamwork, and corporate partnership.
  • In conjunction with leadership and staff, develop, administer and maintain continuous improvement methodologies for the site.
  • Participate in strategic planning for the organization within the context of the A-1 Roof Trusses’ Strategic Plan.
  • Responsible to implement and deliver a strategy that includes refining product and process engineering initiatives as wells as how to further strengthen and broaden existing customer relationships.
  • Expected to improve overall factory operating efficiencies applying Lean philosophies.
  • Management of plant KPI's against Business Plan targets.
  • Serve as the principal public relations spokesperson for the facility.
  • Communicate policies and objectives to supervisors and staff including providing general direction in organization controls and procedures to administer policies and achieve objectives.
  • Complies with requirements as outlined in the Company handbook and OHSA.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of the facility’s overall goals.

Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing site environment. Exposure to inclement weather and loud noise, some work will be performed outside.

Personal Protective Equipment: Safety glasses and steel boots must be worn at all times. Auditory and fall protection applicable when required.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee will be required to frequently stand on their feet for extended periods of time. Must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. It requires close vision, and depth perception – three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships.  Must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, talk and hear.

Qualifications: 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing or other related discipline is preferred.
  • Ten to fifteen years diverse professional and managerial experience including financial/budget responsibility, management, leadership and strategic decision making/leadership.
  • Strong state-of-the-art manufacturing orientation within the components and/or assembly manufacturing industry.
  • Adept in working with employees and setting high standards.
  • Technically competent with hands-on knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of the concepts of manufacturing and Lean production manufacturing methodologies and the ability to formulate and implement a tactical plan.
