SUMMARY:  The Electrician performs duties under the general direction of the Maintenance Supervisor. Works independently to perform maintenance, repair, and/or modification on the facilities' mechanical and electrical systems. The Electrician is involved in fabrication, application, installation, and repair of mechanical and electromechanical equipment; the installation of electrical conduit and machine/building wiring.

POSITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adhere to all safety programs and policies.
  • Inspect equipment on routine inspections, bearing temperatures, pressure readings, or other reading as needed to ensure completion. Obtain and inspect parts from storeroom and checks to ensure the fit and function of spares used.
  • Document parts used as per procedure to ensure proper inventory control.
  • Diagnoses cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of equipment or systems repairs or replaces defective components.
  • Experienced in the use of electrical diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, amp clamps, and meggers to test electrical circuits and components to locate shorts, faulty connections, defective parts, and replaces or repairs to suite.
  • Interface with equipment operators and maintenance staff to ascertain problems with equipment.
  • Examine and test components and support systems to ensure that they are following all standards and regulations.
  • Must be competent to make electrical/mechanical diagnostic evaluations and prescribe corrective action.
  • Work independently in troubleshooting and repair problems with Programmable Logic Controllers and related components when required.
  • Be able to obtain back-up PLC programs from a server to reload and reboot PLC programs to restore faulted equipment.
  • Assist with system startups and operational checkouts on systems, including configuration, wiring, calibration, grounding, and power testing.
  • Diagnoses cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of equipment or systems repairs or replaces defective components.
  • Must be competent to make electrical/mechanical diagnostic evaluations and prescribe corrective action.

 

Qualifications: 

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Familiarity with all grades, dimensions, and species of lumber and other material in inventory and location
  • Able to work with minimum supervision, completing all task and deliverables
  • Discipline to comply with standards
  • Ability to learn & grow – i.e., learn & apply TMS, learn kaizen, gain CPR certification
  • Ability to lift &/or move to 50 pounds
  • Able to perform assembly tasks as required
  • Experience in electrical and mechanical service and maintenance.
  • Basic Math skills

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one (1) to three (3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
